A reminder of the sea’s constant presence around this island nation.
Inspired by the unique and iconic broadcast by the BBC renowned not only for its precision and for mariners around the British Isles, but also for its distinct and somewhat poetic rhythm. Listening however as a child it was the evocative names that had me imagining far-off waters and windswept shores with foggy, raining. rough seas with gale force winds.

Each of the 31 geographic regions have been given my interpretation with hand drawings, initially on acetate to produce the photographic 'negative' to use in the cyanotype process.
