How Did Bloemen & Blue Start?
Having been taught the craft by my father I have long enjoyed the alchemy and artistry of developing my own Black and White Photographs. The excitement of seeing an image appear before your eyes is quite mesmerising. But a serendipitous read of an article on Cyanotype (a photographic process even older than the one I was using) opened my eyes to a world of Blue and White.
Freed of the maths, precision and preciseness of Black & White Development, Cyanotype allows me to combine my love of nature and the outdoors with my love for line and scale drawings, whilst surrounding me with a spectrum of blues reminiscent of Life by the Sea.

My Inspirations
Lucky enough to grow up on the South Devon Coast, and go to school on the North East coast of Scotland I grew up in, around and on the sea, with it’s 180 ° HORIZONS and huge, uninterrupted skies. But wherever I am I will always find a River, Lake, Loch or Tarn to SWIM in. That sharp intake of breath ~ the exhilaration of which lasts a day.

And now my Cyanotype Hobby has become my Business (run from my ‘Lido Studio’ Near Bath, and surrounded by the rolling hills of Wiltshire.)
